As promised, I'm here to update you on the distribution negotiations.

We asked for modifications to the deal, they countered with questions and concerns, we answered those questions and were told, "I'll take it to the team and get back in a couple weeks if we want to go forward."

It's been a couple weeks. And a couple more, for good measure.

To be honest, it's no surprise. We weren't keen on the line they drew so we expected they'd back away. Que cerra cerra.

Back to my original thought that it's nice to be wanted. It is. But, wanted isn't enough to satisfy the needs of the project all by itself. The terms they offered were standard enough, but with extenuating circumstances that put the film out of our control for a long time. If it makes money, that's fine. If it doesn't, we want the option of going elsewhere. And, since it was the first inquiry we thought we would check some of our other distribution contacts.

All in all, it sounds pretty routine. I guess it is, really. But such an abstract routine! The first lesson I learned about entertainment is everything's different. There is no "right" way to do anything.

I don't want to make more of it than it deserves. Let's just say it's cool to be in the game. Whatever game this is. And, at whatever level. Sooner or later I'll have more to share on this project and that will be cool too.

Until then, we'll continue to work on it. Like everything else.
