For the People

I waited to blog this month until after I took part in the No King's March on October 18, 2025. It's October 20, 2025 and some really interesting things happened over the last few days.
I've always done my best to live by values that value other people, the ideal that respect and kindness are the true blood of humanity. Powerful doesn't mean strong if that strength is used to subjugate, intimidate and eradicate those different from you. When it comes to group thought and mob mentality I resurrect Martin Niemoller's chilling recollection of Nazi abuse:
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me -- and there was no one left to speak for me.
It doesn't take a Nobel Laureate to see the parallels between Niemoller's Germany and our America. We stood shoulder to shoulder Saturday and protested in the most American way possible - peaceful and civil assembly in opposition to the advent of fascism in America.
In my little corner of the country tens of thousands marched through Pasadena. One of more than 2,200 marches across the country. Now I read more than 7,000,000 people united in opposition to the gross abuse of power incubating in our nation's capital and I am thrilled.
We marched for the women who are dying in miscarriage because medical professionals are too afraid to take action; for the natural newborn American who's very nationhood is unconstitutionally threatened; for every girl who's rights are bludgeoned and beaten. We marched in the cities and towns from California to the New York islands, from the Redwood forest to the gulf stream waters and all along that ribbon of highway to Washington, D.C. where sits a felon and sexual predator who must be removed along with his cabal of corruption.
People across the country and across the aisle are standing up to say no more. It felt like seven million was just the start.
Statistically speaking only one in ten actually take positive action. Negative action, it's one for one. That means the seven million represented seventy million more. And that's just the people who will take positive action. Those who won't take action but believe the same way comprise tens of million more. Check the polls. The vast majority of Americans did not and do not want the direction our country is going. That's why we march. That's why we resist.
This is the lasting and important point about the marches: We are winning. Despite what the screeching minority screeches, America wants civility. We do not want starving children left to starve; we do not want sick citizens left to sicken; we do not want racism as the rule of the land. We want the America we had before January 22, 2025. A better America. A great America.
I will talk about career happenings next time, I think. Until then be blessed.
Thanks for reading. Resist when you must (fiftyfifty.one) and live for the best life.
