Detailed Devil

A.I. sucks! There is nothing good about it and PLENTY bad about it.

I was sent an overview of a presentation on A.I. and hiring employees. I know, riveting stuff, right? Even though I'm not a hiring person, I have been and I have been hired. So, even I get to open those "secret" documents.

The upshot was A.I. learns. In the sense that we learn? No. In the sense it steals everyone else's material, analyzes patterns, predicts responses and uses copyrighted stuff? Yes. Absolutely. It's a vile little fiefdom that even A.I. people confess breaks copyright law to the point of plagiarism. You know what happens to plagiarists in academic settings, or political or artistic? They go to jail. So, here we are letting felonious electronic miners run around our collective humanity and scrape it clean for purely programmed reasons. That's right, programmed. People started this escapade and other people are paying the price.

Do you know what happens when you don't use a body part for a while? It deteriorates. Sometimes it deteriorates to the point of unusable. No matter what it is, a body part ought not be un-usable. It doesn't matter how insignificant is seems, every damn body part is critical. I don't know about you but I can spare nary a one.

It reminds me of a story about my grandfather. He was in the last stages of his life and partly because he delighted his grandchildren for decades, his energy was nearly spent. He was not a man of science and he believed most of the drivel he saw on television, or things his doctor told him, or stuff the government said. He was pre-Vietnam and full buy in WWII. I'm not here to criticize patriotism or social activism, I'm just saying he came from a different time. The trouble was he used a laxative because it made going easy. Pure and simple. Or, not so simple, because after a very short time his body stopped doing it itself. Why should it? Ol' exlax's got it covered.

That's A.I. It's the exlax of intellectual cognition. If a bot (I know. They say it's not bots, but, as republicans refuse to believe, sayin' it's so don't make it so) can write your papers or remember your speech pattern or diagnose you ills, why should real humans? The short answer is the long answer - because humans discern. Variations throw A.I. for a loop and people are variations. Not to mention, using our intellectual muscles makes our intellectual muscles stronger. We become the full measure of God's intention.

When I was younger there were things I never imagined could happen. Abrogating our divine responsibility to think was at the top of that list. Oh, how the mighty have fallen. And, Satan is laughing all the way to the bank. This is exactly what he wants. Zombies, attached and beholden to electronica at the expense of life itself.

Don't be fooled. There is nothing good about A.I. For those who say we can't put the genie back in the bottle, you're right. But, we can throw the bottle away. Or, better yet, crush it, recycle it and turn it into a water glass. Everybody needs water.

In my last blog I promised updates when they came. I'm still waiting. Ah, the nature of being a human being in human pursuits.

God bless and have fun today. Blessings.
